Tinsley Ellis – Naked Truth

Nashville Social Club 1105 South Carson Street, Carson City, NV, United States

On Naked Truth (his 21st album), Ellis swaps his blistering, guitar-fueled full band workouts for equally passionate, soul-searching acoustic folk blues. His famed guitar chops and musical creativity are on full display throughout the album’s 12 songs, including nine newly written originals. Naked Truth was produced by Ellis, with the foot-stomping cover of Son House’s Death Letter Blues produced by Atlanta roots musician Eddie 9V. The album was recorded live in the studio using Ellis’ beloved 1969 Martin D-35 (a gift from his father) and his 1937 National Steel O Series guitars. Whether intricately fingerpicking the Martin or playing hair-raising slide on the National Steel, Ellis delivers each song with unvarnished intimacy.

Terry Hanck

Blues and soul music fans know that the soundtrack to early rock' n' roll ran on three-minute instrumentals with sax in the lead, and was directly related to 1950s and 1960s New Orleans R&B hits, along with that deep-fried wildness that came from Memphis. With this history lesson in mind, old school rock 'n' soul saxophonist and singer Terry Hanck makes perfect sense. Clearly, Hanck has worshipped at the right Southern altars-- those of such iconic R&B brothers as Fats Domino, Ray Charles, B. B. King, Lee Allen and King Curtis. "I write songs that you think you've heard for years," says the South Florida-based Hanck, who's got suave movie-star looks and a good time presence that immutably anchors the old-style R&B he adores.

Delta Wires – Big Band Blues

Nashville Social Club 1105 South Carson Street, Carson City, NV, United States

San Francisco Bay Area blues legends the Delta Wires take a victory lap after their induction into the California Blues Hall of Fame with the release of their historical survey Anthology… the act grew out of a college undergraduate project where Pinata was tasked to research and perform an anthology of the great blues music form, tracing it from its Delta roots to its Chicago wired form (thus, the name “Delta Wires”). …This collection of live and studio tracks culled from six prior albums and obscure concert recordings, likewise traces the blues over the decades, as delivered by Pinata and his band. …Like the Tower of Power, Delta Wires has had its own horn section, made up of guys who played for another popular Frisco-based act, the boogie rock outfit Cold Blood, and it adds punch and a certain panache you can’t get from small combos. But listening to some of these tracks, especially the earlier ones, there’s enough dirt under the fingernails to make this group bona fide practitioners of the blues. Most of that grit comes courtesy of Pinata himself, whose rousing roots-minded blues harp is the constant in this varied set of recordings that features a changing but consistently good cast of backing personnel. Pinata’s harmonica is smokin’ on cuts such as “Take Off Your Pajamas,” “Tippin’ Into The Blues,” “Don’t Want No Woman” and “Take Your Hand Outta My Pocket,” where he brings down he house. Pinata also handles lead singing for nearly all the vocal songs and while he puts a lot of heart into it, he…did I mention that Pinata is a fantastic harmonica player? …this retrospective makes a strong case for why the Delta Wires earned a spot in the California Blues Hall of Fame.

Joe Bonamassa

GSR 2500 E 2nd St, Reno, NV, United States

Hailed internationally as one of the greatest guitar players of his generation, Guitar Magazine even dubbed bluesman Joe Bonamassa as “the world’s biggest blues guitarist.”

Bonamassa debuted at just twelve years old, when he was opening for giants like B.B. King in 1989, playing more than 20 shows on the weekends only - because he still had school.

He didn’t stay unknown for long. He has shattered all expectations with 27 #1 Billboard blues albums, more than any other artist in recorded history.

In a 2008 interview with British newspaper Express and Star, Bonamassa said, “When I heard Rod Sewart and the Jeff Beck Group singing, Let Me Love You, it changed my life. I knew exactly what I wanted to do.”

In his now 35-year career, Bonamassa has snagged three Grammy nominations for Best Blues Album (2013), Best Traditional Blues Album (2016), and Best Contemporary Blues Album (2022).

When Cain burst onto the blues scene in 1987 with his award winning debut album, he soon found himself sharing the stage and trading licks with a few of those legends, including Albert King and Albert Collins. Chris Cain has released a dozen albums, each filled with soul-stirring songs pulled from his own blues drenched heart. His brand of blues is unforgettable.
