Woo-wee, what a weekend for da Blues! Good weather, great music I'll be in 5th gear till Monday morning and I hope ya'll will be along for the ride .
The weekend party gets a rockin tonight, Thursday, with the RBS Social, Appetizer Potluck and "Local AllStars Blues Jam" at 3rd St Bar. There may be a special guest or two but I ain't saying who in case my plans fall through. Come kick off the Reno-Tahoe Blues Fest weekend. There will be a ticket give away so bring some sort of muchie, your dance shoes and the currant Bluesbrief mailing label so you can get drink specials.The Social begins at 8pm, the Jam at 9pm.
Speaking of the Reno-Tahoe Blues Fest it will be at Bartley Ranch Amphitheater Fri, Sat & Sun evenings. Gates open at 6pm with the terrific line-up starting at 6:30pm.
Blue Haven has a great weekend on tap. First they will be at the Ale House on Friday night beginning at 7pm then Saturday night they have a gig at The Blue Room in Sacramento at 9pm. It's always fab to have a local band get exposure out of the area. If you have friends in the Sac area have them check out our local guys.
The Jason King Band has been on a hot streak of gigs both local and out of town. You can hear what all the fuss is about by catching them Fri, Sat & Sun at the Sapphire Lounge in Harrah's Reno. They start showing what they're made of at 9:30 each night.
Sunday Monte Montgomery will be at Common's Beach. I hear he's one heck of an acoustic guitar player. Moon Gravy will be on hand at 3rd St Bar Sunday evening at 8 for some acoustic style Blues and beyond.
If you dig stellar piano playing then Tuesday head up to the series finale of the Blues Tuesday at Squaw Valley for Eden Brent. She will not disappoint! As tired as I will be after the RTBF I won't miss her show.
